Skytower

The Skytower dominates the skyline of Auckland and is New Zealand's tallest building standing at 328m. Located in the centre of the city and visible from miles outside of the city, there is a lift that takes only 40 seconds to launch visitors up to the first observation platform. The views from here are out of this world and are even more impressive from the very top level, where visitors can see out over the harbour and the city. The tower is just one element of the Sky City complex - an area that includes a casino, cafés, bars and a restaurant. It is worth noting that visitors who spend a certain amount of money when dining here can receive a free pass to the top of the tower. Visitors can also climb to an even higher point, to the Sky Deck - also known as the crows nest - a further 50m up. This is a part of what's known as the Vertigo experience; where potential climbers have to go through a simulator to see that they have the nerve to experience the real thing. Visitors can also experience the world's tallest tower jump; a harness and wire is attached to the individual and there's a free-fall that lasts for around 25-seconds.
